New York Balance

The New York Balance is a very simple instrument for demonstrating a basic principle of physics. Actually several principles can be studied such as torque, levers, center of gravity, and kinetic energy.

The unit consists of a center stand with a cast iron base, a 50 centimeter ruler, three knife edge clamps, a 50 gram weight and a 100 gram weight.  Make sure to tighten the mounting screw securely for the stand and cast iron base. One of the knife edge clamps should have the hanger wire removed.  This clamp will act as your fulcrum, or fixed point, from which the 50 centimeter ruler will pivot.

The site below has some very useful information’s for those that are just starting. Some people that have been doing it for a while can also benefit from reading the technical briefs. Adams Arms Gas Piston System.

The Adams Arms Gas Piston System is an end user installed after-market product for Mil-Spec ARs. It will fit on any AR barrel with a .750" or 3/4" diameter at the shoulder where the front sight base sits. The Pistol version will work on barrel lengths from 7.5" to 8.5". The Carbine version will work on barrel lengths from 10.5" to 16" that has an existing carbine gas system. The Midlength version will work on barrel lengths from 16" to 18" that has an existing midlength gas system.
